c.1948 Ichimura Telephone Booth Bank In Sealed Bag
This unusual tin litho Telephone Booth bank was produced in Japan by Ichimura. Called "Lucky Toy" it's actually a bank. It comes sealed in its original factory bag complete with original coin trap and key. The toy represents a mid-20th century telephone booth with rounded corners and celluloid windows on three sides. The front door swings out towards the right and uses a simple latch to keep it closed. The backside of the booth is solid. Inside the booth is a large rotary dial with the word "Bank" lithoed underneath it. The lower half of the booth resembles a writing surface complete with lithoed telephone book. The coin slot is located just below the dial. The original white coin trap is on the bottom of the booth. The toy comes sealed in its original factory bag with "Lucky Toy" header card. Printed red on a white background it shows a large clown face with waving hand in the lower right corner. Three stars accompany the clown. The original price is printed on the front. The reverse side of the card includes the Ichimura "Indian Headdress" logo and "Japan". Additional stars were printed on the back. Size: 5" tall x 2½" square. Sold: Apr. 2008 $33
